White water canoeing is a risky sport. We've assessed it: it's risky, but we're going to do it anyway. We can make it less risky if we know what to avoid, what to bring and up-grade our own skills.
If you experience any sort of incident while paddling or at the club site, print off an Accident and Near Miss Report sheet, fill it in and pass it to Mark Fairbrass by hand or via his blue tray. That we way we know about it, can think about it and see if we can stop it happening again.
We are planning a
Festival of Paddling
over the weekend of 7th and 8th August. Including proper festival camping! Save the date.
PAA's (club activity leaders) are having their qualification refreshed and the standards are rising. Tony has done a grand job of re-structuring the assessment process and we look forward to more members attaining leadership status in the club.
Members can borrow boats and paddles. Talk to Paul Ford or James Taylor if you want to take some gear away on loan.
Slalom Returns to Bingers
We will be holding a Div 3 and 4 slalom over the weekend of 4th and 5th September. There will be races and loads of opportunities to help out in the week before and on the days. Pop it in your diaries!
Are now on our CALENDAR page. They can be put on by anyone qualified and insured to run an event. Keep checking!
