The club has a great safety record even though we paddle in hazardous environments.
The events you or your children take part in at the club site and at races are risk assessed and mitigation and restrictions put in place eg who can paddle at certain water levels, equipment checks, helmet and buoyancy aid rules etc.
At the club, our coaches and activity leaders have a remit provided by the Trustees. There a
are rigorous safeguards in place that provide insurance and evidence that the trustees have made safe judgements about the suitability of a paddler to run activities. We have the backing of British Canoeing.
British Canoeing's policy on safety and club activities is here.
The Trustees of the club need to demonstrate Due Diligence in deploying members to lead activities so any club trips off site on the club calendar are subject to pre-checks and documentation. If you attend a trip and think anything is dodgy, let us know and we can address it: fill in a "Near miss" report or an incident report. Or just tell a Trustee.
If it's not on this web-site, it's not a club event.
